This week's parasha tells us about the passing of Jacob our father, the parasha talks about the obituary they did for Yaakov and his burial in the Cave of the Patriarchs, yet the parasha is called Vihi, after Jacob's life and not his death. More than that the Sages say: "Yaakov our father has not passed away." How can it be said that Jacob did not die, when the Torah itself tells about his death and burial? Sages answer: "Whatever is sown in life is also alive." This is how Jacob's real life is expressed. Real life does not end with death, but continues to exist and develop. The life of Jacob our father was a real life, and it continued to exist even after his death - among his 'seed', his descendants. Since Jacob's sons and grandsons continued his path and his legacy, in fact his own life also continued. That is why sages say that "Yaakov our father is not dead", since Yaakov's way continued to live in this world even after his death, among his 'seed'. And so it is precisely the episode that tells of Jacob's death that illustrates the true essence of his life - "Long live Jacob." If Jacob our father is considered alive even after his death, that means he did great things in his life! Things that the world cannot forget, as long as we breathe we too can do things that no one will forget for many years, for example: 1. Writing a book if the meaning or message is beautiful. 2. Teach your children good deeds that they will teach their children and these good deeds can literally go down through the generations. 3. Do good deeds like helping a child cross a road and then when the child grows up he will help others.
