Chazal say that environment is like dust. It settles. You don’t see it but it’s everywhere. We can polish the furniture until it sparkles but three days later it’s covered in dust again. It’s so tiny we don’t even notice it at first, but it’s always there, floating about all around us, settling itself on our things, and eventually there’s a film.

If we are not constantly polishing, the dust will settle. The environment we are in affects us. We may not notice it at first, but eventually we will. If we are not constantly involved day and night, in growing, in being with Hashem and His Torah. If we are not excited and involved then eventually the dust will settle...on us.

The area where this is especially true is our marriage!
